This week KAST Architects is eight years old and the last twelve months have been the most successful ever for our growing practice!
Our strong relationship with Leicestershire County Council continues to bear fruit, and in the spring we secured planning approval for primary school number four. Meanwhile, closer to home we have been working with Truro Town Council on a new community pavilion building for Boscawen Park.
We have been designing over twenty new individual homes across Cornwall, all at various stages, while a further three have been completed in the last year. Our work with local community groups and affordable housing organisations has developed, with schemes for starter homes and mixed use developments across the county on the drawing board.
It was fabulous to see KAST featured in the June edition of Drift Abode, followed by Still Waters appearing in Grand Designs Magazine and Milk Moon Barn being included in the RIBA Journal in September. Last November Milk Moon also won the Build It Award for the Renovation Project of the Year and we have just learned that Fairfield Barn has been shortlisted for the Best Oak Frame Building, with Still Waters also shortlisted for the Best Architect for an Extension Project.
While the increasing workload, magazine features and awards are all wonderful, our greatest success has been in becoming B Corp certified. Certified B Corporations are companies verified by B Lab to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. We have therefore joined a family of like minded companies who operate in a way which endeavours to use business as a force for good. So you can rest assured that when we design a building for you, it is in a way that balances your needs with those of our planet.
Thank you as always to our clients, consultants and contractors for their passion and belief. Roll on 2023…
